Don't submit
the AI, please.
When I ask you for your dissertation, I am asking for your thinking. Not a PDF fed into a chatbot and pasted back at me. AI can help you work. It cannot be the one who does the work.
What happened
You had a project. You dropped the PDF into an AI tool, asked it to write the dissertation, and submitted the answer without reading it. It was efficient. It was also extremely obvious.
You did not complete the assignment. You offloaded your brain activity and attached your name to the result. The references don't match the argument, the argument doesn't sound like you, and sometimes the answer is confidently wrong. I know. I read it.
AI did the work. AI gets the grade. You don't.

Do this instead
- Use AI to research, brainstorm, explain a difficult concept, or help you find a direction. Use it as a tool, not as a substitute for having a point of view.
- Read everything it gives you. Check the sources. Challenge the answer. Models can sound certain while being completely wrong, and your name is still on the submission.
- Make the argument yours. Decide what you think, explain why, and use evidence to support it. Your reasoning is the assignment, not the number of paragraphs.
- Edit until you understand every sentence. If you cannot explain a claim without asking the chatbot again, you are not ready to submit it.
- Be honest about the tool. Following the rules for declaring AI use is part of doing the work properly. A rough, genuinely yours draft is worth more than a polished answer you never understood.
This is not anti-AI
I am not asking you to pretend these tools do not exist. Use them to ask better questions, find counterpoints, test an idea, improve a draft, and learn. Research. Think. Control. Argue. Challenge.
But do not just hand over the project and call the output your work. The point of an assignment is not to produce a document-shaped object. It is to make you understand something well enough to say it yourself.
